Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shed light on the relationship between their characters, Ayan and Saba respectively, in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Ever since the trailer of Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil hit the internet, speculations have been rife about the nature of the relationship between Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s characters. A 33-year-old Ranbir romancing an older woman (42-year-old Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) obviously piqued everyone’s interest. On top of that, the video of the ADHM song Bulleya featured intimate moments between the two actors, further teasing the audience about what is to come in the movie.
Well, Karan Johar shared a new promotional clip from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, titled Kuch Rishtey on Twitter, and it perhaps throws a glimpse into the bond between Ayan (Ranbir) and Saba (Aishwarya) in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
The 34-second-clip has Saba telling Ayan that he does not know anything about her to which Ayan replies that he got to knew a few things about her last night. Saba then retorts, “Use janna nahi, behek jana kehte hai” (That is not called knowing, that is called slipping).
The clip further shows Ayan defining the rules of his relationship with Saba; well, it has no rules.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been the eye of the storm ever since several groups began posing a threat to the release of the film in India. In the wake of the terror attacks at Uri, Jammu and Kashmir on September 18 which led to the death of 19 jawans, there have been cries to halt the release of Karan Johar’s ADHM because it stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.
The most prominent among the groups have been the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) which threatened to beat up Karan Johar if he dared to make or release a film featuring a Pakistani actor. Recently, the Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) urged single-screen theatres across Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Karantaka to not release Ae Dil Hai Mushkil keeping “patriotic sentiment” into account.
Karan Johar finally clarified on October 18 regarding why he has been silent on the entire issue of banning Pakistani actors, threats targeting him and ADHM, etc.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Fawad Khan and Anushka Sharma is scheduled to release in theatres on October 28.
