A major accident happened in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. A pickup van collided with a tree on the Puranpur highway of Gajraula police station area here on Thursday morning.
10 people died in this accident, while another 7 people were seriously injured who have been admitted to the hospital.
According to reports, the driver was asleep, due to which the van collided with a tree.
17 passengers in the vehicle were returning from Haridwar after taking a bath in the Ganges.
Eight people died on the spot in the accident, while two later succumbed to their injuries.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the death of the people. Along with this, the officials have been directed to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
