The Apple iOS 16 update is likely to bring a new lock screen with widgets and features like updated Messages and Health apps.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new software update will help app developers support widgets, as it will give them a chance to capture user attention in a high-profile area on the iPhone.
This time around, Apple will focus on supporting wallpapers with its lockscreen and widget-like capabilities.
The tech giant may consider merging ‘Today View’ with its lineup of widgets directly into the lockscreen itself on the left side of the homescreen.
The updated lockscreen could come with an always-on display like the Apple Watch.
Other features with iOS 16 include an updated Messages app with “social networking-like functionality” and the Health app will also be updated.
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (9WWDC) will begin on June 6 for more than 30 million Apple developers around the world.
WWDC22 helps developers and designers discover the latest technologies, tools and frameworks coming to iOS, iPad OS, Mac OS, TV OS and Watch OS.
Throughout the week, developers will be able to engage directly with Apple engineers and designers through the Lab and Digital Lounge to guide them on building innovative and platform-differentiating apps and games.
