US President Joe Biden’s administration has announced that the US will provide $1 billion in additional security aid to Ukraine, the largest outright arms package since the start of the Russo-Ukraine war.

According to a Defense Department statement, the package is the 18th installment since August 2021, which includes additional munitions for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, 75,000 rounds of 155 mm artillery ammunition, 20 120 mm mortars.

The system and 20,000 rounds of 120 mm mortar ammunition, as well as munitions for the national advanced surface-to-air missile system, will be provided, Xinhua news agency reported.

Washington will also deliver 1,000 Javelins, hundreds of AT4 anti-armor systems, 50 armored medical treatment vehicles, anti-personnel weapons, explosives, demolition munitions and demolition equipment to Kyiv, the statement said.

The recently announced aid brings the total US commitment of security assistance to Ukraine to nearly $9.8 billion since Biden took office, according to the Pentagon.
