Delhi: 11 officers Suspended for Lapse in Implementing Excise Policy

Suspension

Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena on Saturday suspended 11 senior officials for serious lapses in implementing the excise policy.

A source said on Saturday, the LG has suspended 11 officials, including the then Delhi Excise Commissioner Arava Gopi Krishna and Deputy Excise Commissioner Anand Kumar Tiwari, for lapses in implementing the Excise Policy 2021-22.

The source said that Saxena has taken this action on the basis of the investigation report filed by the Directorate of Vigilance.

Apart from Krishna and Tiwari, the list of suspended officers includes three ad-hoc officers and six officers of DANICS cadre, he said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday said that he has written to the CBI on former LG Anil Baijal changing stand on opening of liquor shops in unauthorized colonies.

During a press briefing, Sisodia said, “Why was the decision to open all liquor shops changed 48 hours earlier in November last year? Which shopkeepers benefited and under whose pressure LG reversed its decision, these Everyone must be answered.”

However, a Central Bureau of Investigation probe has already been recommended by the Lieutenant Governor for alleged violation of rules and procedural lapses in the implementation of the Excise Policy 2021-22.

The Aam Aadmi Party government led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has now withdrawn this policy.
