Flood Warning in Kashmir, Weather Likely to Improve Today

Authorities on Wednesday sounded a flood alert in Kashmir after rivers and streams in Jammu and Kashmir increased following incessant rains during the last 24 hours.

The Meteorological Department has predicted improvement in the weather from afternoon onwards.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, “The weather will improve significantly from today afternoon and there is no chance of heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 7 days.”

The Flood and Irrigation Department has issued a flood warning in the Jhelum river if the water level crosses 18 feet at Sangam in Anantnag district.

Low-lying areas in Srinagar city and other parts of the Valley are facing water-logging as high-altitude areas are threatened by floods and landslides.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 11 in Srinagar, 6.6 in Pahalgam and 3.2 in Gulmarg.

The minimum temperature in Ladakh’s Dras town was 5.6, Leh 9.6 and Kargil 11.4.

Jammu recorded 18.7, Katra 17, Batote 11, Banihal 11.6 and Bhaderwah 11.8 as the minimum temperature.
