Tech giant Google has announced the addition of new features to the Play Store for better listing of apps next year. The company showcased the upcoming changes at its annual developer conference I/O earlier this year.
“Your Play Store listing is the best way to help potential users understand your app’s functionality and value,” the company said in a blog post.
There will be new changes on bigger screens like tablets, Foldable and Chromebooks. The improvements will help users find the best apps for their devices.
The company is redesigning the Play Store for the bigger screen by using screenshots, videos and descriptions directly in Apps & Games Home.
The company said the content-forward approach aims to better represent the apps in the store and help users make the decision to install.
On Chromebooks, users can browse the Play Store and check screenshots of the app on a tablet or phone. Now the company has introduced an option to post Chromebook-specific screenshots in the Play Console.
It allows up to 8 screenshots and will be visible on the Play Store for most Chromebooks. Both the listing page and the Play homepage for the app will display these screenshots.
The company said that screenshots are recommended in 16:9 ratio for landscape with dimensions of 1080-7690px.
