On Thursday, Eknath Shinde took the oath of office as the 20th chief minister of Maharashtra. As Shinde’s deputy, former CM Devendra Fadnavis also took the oath of office. To stake forth their claim to form a government in Maharashtra, Shinde and Fadnavis met with Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Later, Shinde as the next chief minister of the state by Fadnavis.

In a press conference held earlier that day, Fadnavis stated that it was anticipated that the BJP and Shiv Sena would work together to form the Maharashtra government in 2019.
