One Killed, 3 Injured in Shootings in Washington


A shooting incident has come to light in Washington DC, US, in which a teenager was killed, while three other youths were injured.

The shooting occurred late on Sunday in the area of ​​14th and U Street, NW, an area full of shops, restaurants and bars, Xinhua news agency quoted the Metropolitan Police Department as saying.

Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Conti told the media that a 15-year-old man was killed in the shooting, while three youths, including two local civilians and a police officer, were injured.

The DC Police Union tweeted that the officer who was shot has been taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.

Conti has said that the free music festival Juneteenth was being organized without permission where the shooting took place.

According to the police, no one was shot, but three people were taken to the hospital with injuries in the stampede.

So far this year, more than 20,000 people have been killed in shootings across the US, according to the latest figures from the Gun Violence Archive.
