On his visit to Gujarat, which will have elections later this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the “Smriti Van” memorial and unveiled projects worth Rs 4,400 crore at Bhuj in the Kutch area. Following the 2001 earthquake that claimed 13,000 lives and had its epicenter in Bhuj, the roughly 470-acre Smriti Van memorial was constructed to honor the spirit of resiliency.
