Ravi Shastri, the former India men’s cricket team chief coach, believes Virat Kohli should take a vacation from the sport to recover from his slump.
Kohli, India’s previous captain in all three formats, retired from captaincy last year. Since November 2019, he hasn’t scored a century in any form.
Kohli set a dubious record by playing 100 competitive games without a century, with that poor outing sandwiched in the midst. According to cricket statistician Mahzer Arshad, Kohli has gone 17 Tests, 21 ODIs, 25 T20Is, and 37 IPL matches without reaching the three-figure barrier.
India will play a one-off Test in England in July, and Shastri, who worked very closely with Kohli as India’s head coach, thinks the former captain is “overcooked” and needs a break.
