Spain will start giving the fourth dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 from 26 September. This information was given by the Ministry of Health.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Public Health Commission, which was attended by members of all 17 autonomous communities in the country, Xinhua news agency reported.
People above 80 years of age and nursing home staff members will be given a second booster dose.
The ministry said the first batch of vaccine against the Omicron variant will arrive on Friday and will be distributed next week.
So far, more than 95 million doses of the vaccine have been given in Spain, of which 40 million people have received two doses.
