Tata Technology wants to set up its ambitious EV manufacturing plant in Punjab.
A delegation of the company met the Chief Minister of the state Bhagwant Mann in this regard at his official residence.
The delegation included the company’s Global CEO Warren Harris, Global HR and ITT President Pawan Bhageria and other officials.
He told the Chief Minister that Tata Technology wants to set up this plant with an immediate investment of Rs 250 crore. A further investment of Rs 1,600 crore will be made in the plant later.
The company said that it will focus more on employment generation for the local people and development of MSMEs in the EV category.
The company also said that it will also run skill development programs for the youth of the state.
The Chief Minister assured full cooperation to the company in setting up this project. Bhagwant Mann said that the State Government is committed to give impetus to industrial development in the State.
He said that his government wants the youth of Punjab not to go abroad in search of livelihood and do employment here. Employment will be created for them through these projects.
Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is also talking to other industrialists to start more such projects in Punjab.
In the meeting held between Tata Technology and the Chief Minister, it was also decided that Lamarin Tech University at Bhagat Singh Nagar would coordinate with IBM, Tata Technology and Ensys Corporation for the construction of a high-end technology lab at a cost of Rs 602 crore.
The requirement of skilled human resource will be met through this lab.
