In Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district, police have attached property of former BSP MLA Shekhar Tiwari, who is serving a life sentence for the 2008 murder of PWD engineer Manoj Kumar Gupta.
Tiwari, along with his associates, allegedly killed Gupta on December 25, 2008 in Auraiya, after refusing to donate funds for the birthday celebrations of the then Chief Minister Mayawati in December 2008.
Subsequently, Tiwari Surrendered in 2009 and Was Later Sent to Jail He Was Also Booked Under the Gangster Act
In May 2011, Tiwari was sentenced to life imprisonment along with nine others for the abduction and murder of Gupta.
Tiwari’s wife Vibha was also sentenced to 30 months in jail for destruction of evidence.
In the midst of the ongoing hearing regarding the gangster’s registered case, the exercise of attaching the property started after the order of the court of the district judge.
Following this, the police and administration announced the attachment of 0.8 hectares of Tiwari’s land in Umarsana Mauje village of Auraiya.
The Cost of the Land is Estimated to Be Around Rs 47.49 Lakh
Circle Officer Sadar Surendra Nath Yadav said that in the Gangster Act case against Tiwari, the court has ordered attachment of the land. “The land will remain in the possession of Sadar tehsil till further orders,” he said.
