28 Indian vessels with 778 seafarers onboard stuck in Persian Gulf: Official

A total of 28 Indian vessels carrying 778 seafarers are currently stranded in the Persian Gulf, according to Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Of these vessels, 24 are located on the western side, housing 677 of the seafarers, while the remaining four ships, with 101 crew members, are positioned on the eastern side. The situation has raised concerns regarding the safety and welfare of the seafarers amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region. The Indian government is reportedly coordinating efforts to ensure the safe return of these individuals. The Persian Gulf is a significant trade route for maritime traffic, and disruptions have a broader impact on shipping operations and international trade. Efforts to address the plight of the stranded vessels are crucial, especially as the maritime sector plays an essential role in India's economy and global trade relations.
