India joins 30 UN Member States to express deep alarm at escalation of hostilities in Lebanon

India, alongside 30 other UN member states, has voiced serious concerns regarding the recent escalation of hostilities in Lebanon. The statement from the Indian delegation, led by Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, highlighted the ongoing commitment of Indian peacekeepers under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Despite the challenging circumstances, these peacekeepers are dedicated to fulfilling their mandate and providing essential support to local communities. The collective expression of alarm from India and other nations underscores the urgent need for de-escalation and a peaceful resolution to the conflicts affecting Lebanon, which has historically faced numerous challenges. This statement reflects India's stance on international peacekeeping and its role in promoting stability in conflict zones. As the situation in Lebanon remains volatile, the international community is urged to take necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of civilians and facilitate humanitarian efforts.
