Indian Railways Nears Complete Broad-Gauge Electrification

Historic Milestone in Railway Modernization
Indian Railways has achieved electrification across more than 99 percent of its broad-gauge network, spanning 25 states and union territories. This extensive infrastructure project has seen over 33,000 route kilometers electrified since 2019.
Sustainability and Efficiency Goals
The nationwide electrification initiative represents a significant step toward reducing carbon emissions and lowering operational expenses for the railway system. This transition will also facilitate faster train operations across the country.
This electrification drive forms a crucial component of the government's sustainable transportation strategy, with the objective of transforming Indian Railways into a net-zero carbon emitter by 2030.
