A newly discovered microscopic crustacean from Kavaratti has been classified as a distinct genus and species, named Indiaphonte bijoyi. This significant find was announced by researchers who honored the nation with the generic name 'Indiaphonte' and recognized S. Bijoy Nandan, the Dean of the Faculty of Marine Sciences at Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat), with the species name 'bijoyi'.
