In a landmark electoral victory, Nepal's Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) secured the highest number of votes in the proportional representation category during the elections held on March 5. The party achieved a significant milestone by winning 125 out of the 165 available seats through direct voting, marking a transformative moment in Nepal's political landscape. The Nepali Congress (NC) followed with 18 seats, while the CPN-UML secured 9 seats, and the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) won 7. Additionally, the Socialist Party (SS) garnered 3 seats, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) claimed 1, and an Independent candidate also won 1 seat. This election is seen as a reflection of the shifting political dynamics in Nepal, with the RSP's victory suggesting a growing appetite for change among the electorate. As the country navigates its complex political terrain, the implications of this election outcome will be closely monitored, particularly regarding governance and policy direction in the coming years.
