Airtel, Google partner to check spam
Bharti Airtel has announced a partnership with Google to enhance spam protection on its messaging services, leveraging AI technologies to shield users from digital fraud. This collaboration will integrate Airtel's network intelligence with Google's Rich Communications Services (RCS) platform, allowing users to enjoy rich messaging features alongside robust spam filtering capabilities. According to Airtel, the use of these AI tools has already led to the blocking of an astonishing 7,100 crore spam calls and 290 crore spam SMS, resulting in a 68.7% reduction in financial losses attributed to spam on its network over the past 18 months. The partnership aims to extend customer protection beyond traditional telecom services, addressing the vulnerabilities present in non-telco messaging applications often exploited by fraudsters. Gopal Vittal, Executive Vice Chairman of Airtel, emphasized the need for collaboration with other internet-based communication platforms to fortify the fight against spam. Google's Sameer Samat noted that this initiative not only enhances trust among consumers but also fosters deeper engagement for businesses, thereby contributing to sustainable growth. This innovative approach sets a new standard for secure messaging experiences, ensuring that customers can distinguish legitimate communications from potential threats in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
