Centre Says Up To 1.3 Lakh Indians Returned From Middle East

The Indian government has reported that approximately 1.3 lakh (130,000) Indians have returned from the Middle East, primarily due to job losses and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of these individuals were employed in various sectors, including hospitality and construction, which faced significant disruptions. Airlines such as Air India and IndiGo are resuming operations from Saudi Arabia to facilitate further repatriation efforts. The return of these citizens highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Indian workers abroad and the government's commitment to ensuring their safe return. This mass repatriation is part of a broader initiative to support Indian expatriates affected by the pandemic, showcasing the impact of global economic conditions on migrant workers. The authorities have been coordinating closely with airlines to streamline the process and ensure that those returning are provided with necessary support upon arrival.
