Centre Seeks Parliament Approval To Spend Rs 2.01 Lakh Crore More In FY26
The Indian government has approached Parliament for approval to increase its expenditure by ₹2.01 lakh crore for the financial year 2025-26. This supplementary demand includes a request for ₹19,230 crore specifically for the fertilisers department, aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring adequate supply of fertilisers to farmers. Additionally, the government seeks ₹23,641 crore to extend the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), a welfare scheme designed to provide food security to economically vulnerable populations. This funding request reflects the government's commitment to supporting both the agricultural sector and low-income families amid ongoing economic challenges. As the country navigates post-pandemic recovery, these financial allocations are crucial for sustaining essential services and bolstering food security in the nation. The proposed spending will be part of a larger fiscal strategy aimed at stimulating growth while addressing pressing social needs. Parliament's approval is essential for the government to proceed with these allocations, which are expected to play a vital role in the overall economic stability of the country in the coming fiscal year.
