China duty on rubber imports from India
China has announced the imposition of anti-dumping duties on imports of halogenated butyl rubber from India, Japan, and Canada, following an investigation into alleged dumping practices. The duties, which could reach up to 30.1% on shipments from Japan and Canada, are set to take effect on March 14 and will last for five years. Halogenated butyl rubber is a crucial material used primarily in the production of tyre inner liners and various industrial rubber products. This decision reflects China's ongoing efforts to protect its domestic industries from what it perceives as unfair trade practices, particularly in the wake of increasing imports from these countries. The impact of these duties on Indian exporters, who play a significant role in the global rubber supply chain, remains to be seen as the trade dynamics shift in response to these new tariffs.
