Cost of home-cooked veg thali remains flat, non-veg falls 3% in February: Crisil report

According to Crisil's Roti Rice Rate report for February, the cost of home-cooked vegetarian thalis in India remained unchanged while non-vegetarian thalis saw a 3% decrease. This stability in household meal expenses can be attributed to a decline in the prices of essential ingredients such as onions, potatoes, and poultry, which counterbalanced a notable increase in tomato prices. The report highlights the ongoing fluctuations in food prices that affect the budgeting of Indian households, which have been navigating a complex landscape of inflation and changing market dynamics. As consumers continue to seek affordable meal options, these price trends play a critical role in shaping dietary choices and overall household expenditure.
