Delhi Court Discharges Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia In CBI Excise Case

In a significant legal development, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have been discharged from a CBI investigation concerning alleged irregularities in the excise policy. Special Judge Jitendra Singh of the Rouse Avenue Court ruled that the evidence presented by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to demonstrate a conspiracy or any criminal intent behind the excise policy's formulation. This ruling comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the Delhi government's liquor policy, which had previously faced accusations of corruption. The court's decision marks a pivotal moment for Kejriwal and Sisodia, both of whom have consistently maintained their innocence, claiming the charges were politically motivated. The case has been a focal point of contention in the political landscape, particularly with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) asserting that the investigation was part of a larger agenda to undermine their governance. The discharge of the two leaders may reinforce their political standing ahead of forthcoming elections, as they seek to counter adversarial narratives and consolidate their support base in Delhi.
