Delhi just had its hottest March day in 50 years — and IMD warns it's only going to get worse

Delhi has recorded its hottest March day in five decades, with temperatures soaring to an unprecedented 38°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning indicating that the heat is expected to intensify in the coming days. Partly cloudy skies are projected for Monday, but this does little to alleviate concerns about the ongoing heatwave. The extreme temperatures are attributed to changing climatic conditions, exacerbated by urban heat islands and inadequate green cover in the national capital. As Delhi gears up for more sweltering days, experts are urging residents to take necessary precautions to mitigate health risks associated with extreme heat. The IMD's predictions signal a troubling trend for the region, as similar weather patterns have been observed in previous years, raising alarms about the broader implications of climate change on urban living in India’s capital.
