Diners close in Mumbai; Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Chennai restaurants struggle to stay open amid LPG shortage

The ongoing LPG shortage is severely affecting the restaurant industry across major Indian cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Chennai. Industry representatives have highlighted that many restaurants are only equipped to store enough LPG for two to three days, making them vulnerable to any disruptions in supply. With the current situation, a significant number of eateries in Mumbai have been forced to temporarily close their doors, leading to concerns about the sustainability of operations in other cities as well. The crisis not only threatens the livelihoods of restaurant owners and employees but also poses a risk to local economies that rely heavily on the food service sector. As restaurants struggle to stay afloat amid rising costs and dwindling supplies, stakeholders are urging the government to address the LPG supply chain challenges to prevent further closures and economic fallout.
