February GST Collection Rises 8% To Rs 1.83 Lakh Crore

India's Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection for February 2026 witnessed a significant increase of 8%, reaching Rs 1.83 lakh crore. This marks an upward trend from the previous month, January 2026, where the mop-up stood at Rs 1.71 lakh crore. The consistent growth in GST collections indicates a robust recovery in economic activity, reflecting increased consumer spending and improved compliance among businesses. Analysts suggest that this positive trend may be attributed to various factors, including a rebound in key sectors and the government's continued efforts to streamline tax processes. The rise in collections not only supports the fiscal position of the government but also enhances its capacity to fund development projects. As the country progresses through the post-pandemic recovery phase, sustained growth in GST revenue will be crucial for maintaining economic stability and funding essential public services.
