IMD predicts heavy rain & thunderstorms for south India, rise in temperatures across northern and western parts

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning across several southern states, including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe. These weather conditions are expected to persist through Sunday, posing potential hazards to residents in these areas. Alongside this, the IMD has also indicated a rise in temperatures across northern and western India, affecting states like Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. The temperature increase is attributed to a shift in weather patterns, as the region transitions towards warmer months. Residents are advised to take precautions against both extreme weather conditions in the south and rising heat in the north, particularly those with outdoor plans or vulnerable individuals. The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary, emphasizing the importance of staying informed during these significant weather events.
