India Well Stocked With Fertilisers Ahead Of Kharif Season: Govt Sources

As the Kharif season approaches, Indian government sources have confirmed that the country is well-prepared in terms of fertiliser availability. Current urea stocks are reported at approximately 62 lakh tonnes, which is about 10 lakh tonnes more than the previous year's figures. Similarly, the stock of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) stands at 25 lakh tonnes, marking a significant increase and nearly double the quantity available during the same period last year. This positive trend in fertiliser stocks is crucial for ensuring optimal agricultural productivity, particularly as farmers gear up for the Kharif cropping season, which is essential for the cultivation of key crops such as rice, pulses, and cotton. The government’s proactive measures in maintaining and increasing fertiliser supplies are aimed at supporting farmers and fostering food security in the country amidst rising agricultural demands. These robust stock levels are expected to alleviate concerns regarding fertiliser shortages, thereby enhancing the potential for a successful Kharif harvest this year.
