LPG Shortage: NRAI Warns Of 'Massive Job Losses' As Gas Crunch May Shut Down Restaurants In Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru

The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has raised alarms over a potential LPG shortage that could significantly impact the restaurant industry across major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru. According to NRAI chairman Anurag Katriar, the gas supply crunch has forced many establishments to consider drastic measures, including limiting their menu offerings and altering operating hours. If the situation does not improve, it may lead to widespread job losses in the sector, which is already reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The NRAI emphasizes that the timely supply of LPG is critical for the survival of restaurants, many of which rely heavily on gas for cooking. The organization is calling on the government to address the issue urgently to prevent a crisis that could jeopardize thousands of jobs and the livelihoods of millions of workers in the hospitality industry. As the demand for gas continues to rise during the festive season, the NRAI's warnings serve as a crucial reminder of the challenges faced by the food service sector in maintaining operations amidst supply chain disruptions.
