Mamata announces ‘Pink Booths’, mobile patrol teams to boost women's safety — ‘Kolkata safest city in country’

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced the launch of 'Pink Booths' and mobile patrol teams aimed at enhancing women's safety in Kolkata. This initiative will see these teams actively patrolling key areas, including the EM Bypass and other major roads, between 8 PM and 2 AM, catering particularly to working women who travel during late hours. The introduction of these safety measures is part of Banerjee's broader vision to position Kolkata as the safest city in India for women. By fostering a secure environment, the government hopes to encourage more women to work and travel freely at night. The 'Pink Booths' will serve as dedicated spaces where women can seek help and support, further strengthening the commitment to women's safety in the region. This initiative comes amid ongoing discussions about urban safety and the need for proactive measures to protect vulnerable groups in busy urban settings.
