Middle East-Bound Containers Stranded At JNPA To Get Ground Rent Charges Waiver For 15 days

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has announced a temporary relief measure for shipping operators affected by delays in the movement of containers bound for the Middle East. In a notice issued to stakeholders, the authority stated that it will waive ground rent charges for stranded containers for a period of 15 days. Additionally, operators will benefit from an 80% reduction in reefer plug charges for the same duration. This decision comes as a proactive step to mitigate the financial burden on shipping companies and facilitate smoother logistics amid ongoing disruptions. The JNPA's initiative highlights its commitment to supporting the maritime industry during challenging times, ensuring that trade operations can continue with minimal impediment. This measure is expected to encourage more efficient handling of containers and assist operators in managing their costs effectively, ultimately benefiting the broader supply chain and trade ecosystem in India.
