MRPL denies shutdown amid West Asia conflict
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has refuted claims of a partial shutdown amid rising tensions in the Middle East affecting crude oil supplies. In a statement released on Saturday, MRPL clarified that its operations continue uninterrupted and that it has secured sufficient feedstock to maintain normal production levels. This clarification comes in response to a social media post from OilPrice.com, which suggested that the refinery, with a capacity of 300,000 barrels per day, was facing operational challenges due to regional conflicts. MRPL emphasized that these rumors are unfounded and confirmed that its supply chain remains robust. Additionally, Indian Oil Corporation has also addressed similar rumors regarding fuel shortages, asserting that the country has adequate fuel stocks and that its distribution networks are functioning normally. Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring a stable energy supply, stating that there is no cause for concern among consumers regarding energy availability in India. As the situation unfolds, both companies urge the public to rely on official communications for accurate information and to avoid panic.
