No ‘dry day’ in Delhi this Holi; liquor shops to remain open

In a significant change to the traditional observance of Holi, the Delhi government has announced that liquor shops will remain open during the festival this year. A senior excise official confirmed the removal of Holi from the list of 'dry days', marking a shift in policy aimed at enhancing festive celebrations and boosting local businesses. This decision aligns with the government's broader approach to modernize regulations surrounding alcohol sales and reflects changing societal norms regarding alcohol consumption during festivals. Previously, the state had designated major festivals as 'dry days' to promote responsible drinking; however, this year, the focus appears to be on allowing residents to celebrate Holi without restrictions. With the vibrant festival of colors just around the corner, many are anticipating the impact this change will have on the celebrations and local economy, as revelers will have greater access to alcoholic beverages during the festivities.
