Oil tanker transit through Hormuz stabilised after Jaishankar speaks to Iran's Araghchi amid West Asia conflict: Report

The recent tensions in West Asia prompted Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to engage in discussions with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, resulting in a stabilization of oil tanker transit through the Strait of Hormuz. This corridor is critical for global oil supplies, and the dialogue aims to mitigate disruptions caused by regional conflicts. As part of its diplomatic efforts, India is also focused on the safety of its approximately 9,000 nationals in Iran, including students and expatriates. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has been proactive in facilitating their return home, providing necessary assistance through embassy channels. This development underscores India's commitment to maintaining its interests in the region while ensuring the safety of its citizens amidst escalating tensions in West Asia.
