PM Modi Inaugurates APSEZ's Haldia Bulk Terminal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Haldia Bulk Terminal (HBT) on Saturday through a virtual event held at Kolkata's Brigade parade ground. This state-of-the-art terminal is set to enhance India's cargo handling capabilities, with an annual capacity of 4 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) specifically for dry bulk cargo. The project aims to significantly bolster the logistics and maritime infrastructure in the region, facilitating increased trade and economic growth. The HBT is strategically located to serve not just West Bengal but also the broader eastern Indian market. Its commissioning is expected to attract investment and create job opportunities, thereby contributing to the 'Make in India' initiative. Modi emphasized the importance of modern infrastructure in driving the nation's economic development and improving the ease of doing business. The event marks a significant milestone in enhancing the operational efficiency of India's ports, aligning with the government's vision for a robust and resilient maritime sector.
