Rs 47 Crore Drugs, 3.5 Tonnes Chemicals Seized In Raids On Illegal Alprazolam Factory In Andhra

In a significant crackdown on illegal drug manufacturing, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized drugs valued at Rs 47 crore from an illicit alprazolam factory in Andhra Pradesh. The operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately 3.5 tonnes of chemicals, 800 kg of key raw materials, and 2,860 litres of various chemicals used in the production process. Additionally, industrial-scale equipment was also recovered, indicating the extensive nature of the illegal operations. This raid highlights ongoing efforts by Indian authorities to combat the rising threat of drug abuse and illicit drug manufacturing in the country. Alprazolam, commonly used for its anxiolytic properties, has seen a surge in misuse, prompting intensified enforcement actions. The DRI's operation not only aims to dismantle this specific facility but also sends a strong message against the broader drug trade, which poses serious health risks to the public and challenges law enforcement agencies across India.
