Stronger manufacturing, services helped India negotiate FTAs from ‘position of strength’, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India's robust manufacturing and service sectors have empowered the nation to negotiate Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) from a position of strength. During a recent address, he highlighted the government's strategic focus on designing trade agreements that facilitate greater market access for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across various industries, including textiles, leather, chemicals, handicrafts, and gems. Modi's remarks come as India continues to bolster its economic resilience and enhance its global trade footprint. The emphasis on MSMEs is particularly significant, given their vital role in India's economy, contributing to employment and innovation. By prioritizing these sectors in FTAs, the government aims to promote growth and competitiveness, ensuring that Indian products gain visibility and access in international markets. This approach reflects a broader strategy to integrate India more deeply into the global economy while safeguarding domestic interests and fostering sustainable development in key industries.
