TRAI to add appeal feature in DND apps in March
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is set to enhance its Do Not Disturb (DND) app by introducing an appeal feature in March. This addition will allow consumers to escalate complaints that have not been satisfactorily resolved by service providers, according to TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti. The revamped DND app, aimed at combating spam calls and SMS, will also support multiple regional languages to make it more accessible, particularly in rural areas. Lahoti highlighted the importance of the DND app, noting that over half of the 3.1 million unsolicited commercial communication complaints received in 2025 were filed through it. The launch will also coincide with the rollout of an upgraded MyCall app, which enables users to report call quality issues. Furthermore, the updated MySpeed app will allow users to test internet speeds across various technologies, including 5G, while also measuring real-world factors such as jitter and packet loss. The introduction of these enhanced features is part of TRAI's ongoing efforts to improve consumer experience in the telecommunications sector, ensuring that users have effective tools to address their concerns and report issues efficiently.
