'Within 90 Days': After Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh To Ban Social Media For Kids Under 13

In a significant move to protect the mental health and well-being of minors, the Andhra Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, is set to implement a ban on social media platforms for children under the age of 13. The decision, which follows a similar initiative taken by Karnataka, aims to address growing concerns about the negative impacts of social media on young users. The government has indicated that it will also evaluate the possibility of restricting access for teenagers aged 13 to 16 years. This policy comes amid increasing awareness of the risks associated with social media, including cyberbullying, exposure to inappropriate content, and mental health issues. Naidu's administration is expected to finalize the details of the ban within the next 90 days, marking a proactive approach to safeguarding the digital environment for the state’s youth. This initiative reflects a broader trend in India, where various states are considering measures to regulate online activities among minors, highlighting the urgent need for a balanced approach to technology use among young people.
