95,913 more candidates can be counselled after NEET-PG cut-off lowered: SC told

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has reported a significant increase in the number of qualified candidates for the NEET-PG 2025 examination, following a reduction in the cut-off scores. This adjustment has resulted in an additional 95,913 candidates becoming eligible for counselling, bringing the total number of qualified individuals to approximately 2.24 lakh. The Supreme Court has been informed of this development, amidst concerns that ongoing legal proceedings could potentially disrupt the counselling process for these candidates. The NEET-PG examination is crucial for aspiring post-graduate medical students in India, as it determines their eligibility for admission to various medical colleges. The lowered cut-off has sparked discussions about the implications for medical education in the country, as more candidates will now have the opportunity to pursue advanced studies in medicine. The Supreme Court's decision on the pending plea will be pivotal in shaping the counselling process and ensuring that the newly qualified candidates can secure their placements in a timely manner.
