Amid hotel closures, Centre says some commercial LPG cylinders ‘will be released’

In response to the ongoing challenges faced by the hospitality sector, particularly amid widespread hotel closures, the Indian government has announced the release of certain commercial LPG cylinders. This decision comes from the oil ministry, which recognizes the pressing need for alternative fuel sources. Alongside this, an additional allocation of 40,000 kilolitres of kerosene has been designated for states, aimed at supporting those reliant on LPG for cooking and heating. The move reflects the Centre's commitment to addressing the disruptions in the energy supply chain, particularly as many businesses struggle to remain operational during tough economic conditions. This initiative is particularly crucial for the hospitality industry, which has been significantly impacted by the pandemic and subsequent restrictions, as it seeks to recover and adapt to new market realities. By diversifying fuel availability, the government aims to provide some relief to affected sectors, ensuring they can continue to function while exploring more sustainable energy solutions in the long term.
