Bengaluru: 3 killed after inhaling toxic fumes in Whitefield soak pit

In a tragic incident in Whitefield, Bengaluru, three men lost their lives due to suspected toxic gas inhalation while cleaning a rainwater soak pit. The victims included the property owner and a plumber, who were engaged in the maintenance work when they were overcome by the fumes. Emergency services were alerted, but despite their prompt response, the men were declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. Local authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact nature of the gases involved and to ensure that safety protocols are enforced to prevent such occurrences in the future. This event underscores the risks associated with maintenance work in confined spaces, particularly in areas lacking proper ventilation and safety measures. Bengaluru, known for its rapid urbanization, faces increasing challenges with waste management and pollution, raising concerns about worker safety in similar jobs across the city.
