Can’t remove all posts in personality rights suit, Meta and X tell HC in Ramdev’s case

Meta Platforms and X Corp, the parent companies of Facebook and Twitter, respectively, have informed the Delhi High Court that they cannot comply fully with Baba Ramdev's request to remove all content related to him in a personality rights lawsuit. Ramdev, a prominent figure in yoga and Ayurveda, is seeking to block global access to various posts that he claims infringe upon his personality rights. In their defense, the social media intermediaries emphasized that while they can address specific content violations, the removal of all posts is not feasible due to the complexities involved in managing user-generated content on a global scale. This case highlights the ongoing legal challenges surrounding online content moderation and the balance between individual rights and freedom of expression on digital platforms. As social media continues to evolve, the implications of such legal battles are significant for users, platforms, and public figures alike, raising important questions about digital rights and responsibilities in the Indian context.
