Central govt to launch HPV vaccination drive for girls aged 14 this month

The Indian government is set to launch a nationwide HPV vaccination initiative targeting girls aged 14 this month. This program aims to combat cervical cancer by administering the single-shot Gardasil vaccine, which protects against the most prevalent HPV types associated with the disease, namely types 16 and 18, as well as types 6 and 11. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance public health and reduce the incidence of cervical cancer, which remains a significant health concern for women in India. With this vaccination drive, officials hope to raise awareness about HPV and its link to cervical cancer, encouraging more families to participate in preventive healthcare measures. This initiative aligns with the government's commitment to improving health outcomes for women and addressing preventable diseases through vaccination and education.
