Centre to build 5,000 houses for IDPs in Manipur

The Indian government, led by Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has announced the construction of approximately 5,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) to assist internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by recent ethnic violence in Manipur. This initiative aims to provide much-needed shelter and support to communities that have faced significant upheaval due to the ongoing conflict. The decision reflects the government's commitment to rehabilitation and welfare, addressing the urgent housing needs of those who have been displaced. The PMAY-G program, which focuses on enhancing rural housing, will play a pivotal role in restoring stability and normalcy in the region, where many families have lost their homes amidst the turmoil. As the government moves forward with this plan, it hopes to facilitate a smoother recovery process for the affected populations and contribute to the long-term peace and development of Manipur.
