CISF to oversee security of sea ports across country: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will now be responsible for overseeing the security of sea ports across India. This decision comes in response to increasing concerns about maritime security and the need for enhanced protection measures at key logistical points. The CISF, which is traditionally tasked with the security of industrial units and vital installations, will expand its role to include the safeguarding of coastal infrastructure. This move aims to bolster the nation’s maritime security framework, ensuring that ports, which are crucial for trade and commerce, are well-protected against potential threats. The government is emphasizing the importance of maintaining robust security protocols at these strategic locations to facilitate safe and efficient operations in the maritime sector. The integration of CISF into port security is expected to streamline security processes and enhance coordination between various agencies involved in maritime operations.
