Congress kept Northeast far from ‘Dilli’ and ‘Dil’, alienated Barak Valley: PM Modi

During a recent event in Silchar, Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress party for its historical neglect of the Northeast region, particularly the Barak Valley. Unveiling projects worth ₹23,550 crore, Modi emphasized that the Congress has kept the Northeast distant from the central government in Delhi, both physically and emotionally. He argued that the region has been marginalized under Congress rule, leading to a sense of alienation among its residents. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the Northeast in national development and expressed the current government's commitment to ensuring that the region receives its due attention and resources. Modi's remarks come as the BJP seeks to strengthen its foothold in the Northeast ahead of upcoming elections, positioning itself as a party that prioritizes the region's development. This statement reflects broader political dynamics as parties vie for support in areas that have historically been underrepresented in national discourse.
