Delhi-Katra e-way to be completed in phases till March 2028, Gadkari tells Rajya Sabha

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari informed the Rajya Sabha that the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway project will be completed in phases by March 2028. The long-awaited infrastructure development has faced several delays, prompting the need for re-tendering of certain contracts. This expressway is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between Delhi and Katra, a key pilgrimage site for devotees visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine. The project, once completed, will not only boost travel efficiency but also promote tourism and economic growth in the region. Gadkari emphasized the government’s commitment to overcoming the challenges hindering the project’s progress, aiming to ensure its timely completion despite the setbacks. The phased approach will allow for sections of the expressway to open progressively, providing relief to travelers sooner than anticipated. The project is part of a broader initiative to modernize India's road infrastructure, thereby facilitating smoother transportation across the northern states.
